How to look after your nails after a Russian manicure

A Russian manicure leaves you with a very tidy cuticle line and gel polish or BIAB that sits close to the cuticle. A few small habits at home help it stay looking fresh. Here is what we tell our clients when they leave the salon.

Use cuticle oil every day

A drop of cuticle oil each day keeps the skin around your nails soft. It only takes a moment, and it is a lovely habit to keep by the bed or on your desk. We wrote a little more about it in the benefits of using cuticle oil.

Wear gloves for washing up and cleaning

Pop on a pair of gloves when you do the dishes or clean around the house. It is an easy way to look after your nails and the skin around them.

Your nails are not tools

Try not to use your nails for opening cans or peeling labels. Reach for a spoon or a pair of scissors instead.

Please don't pick or peel

If your gel or BIAB starts to lift, it can be tempting to pick at it. Please don't, as peeling it off can take layers of your own nail with it. Book a removal instead, so your own nails stay in good condition. If you wear BIAB, you can book an infill.

Book your next appointment

Gel polish lasts around two to three weeks. BIAB lasts 2 to 6 weeks, depending on how quickly your nails grow and how you look after them. When the regrowth starts to show, that is the time to come back and see us.
